Job Description:

Assist individuals served in their recovery from substance use disorders and/or mental illness. Support, encourage, and model recovery and resilience from substance use disorders and mental illness in ways that are specific to the needs of each individual. Provide individualized person-centered services with a recovery focus. Promote a strengths-based model and encourage the use of natural supports and enhanced community living. Assist in achieving goals and objectives set forth by the individual in their individualized treatment or recovery plan. Emphasize the opportunity for individuals to support each other as they move forward in their recovery.
Staff must demonstrate excellence in overall work performance; promote positive morale through a congenial, supportive attitude and by providing service to others; put forth an effort to improve self as well as to develop and recognize others; exhibit initiative, innovation and creativity resulting in improved operating efficiency of their work focus or the agency as a whole; enhance the image of the their department and the agency.

Requirements: Must either possess or have the ability to possess, within 30 days of hire, the Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) credential through the Missouri Credentialing Board (www.missouricb.com). A Class E Driver’s License is required at the time of hiring or can be obtained within two weeks thereof. Certification in CPR/First Aid is required upon hiring or can be obtained shortly after hiring. Employees are required to maintain the certifications and/or licenses possessed when hired and those gained while an employee of this Agency. Any lapsed certification or license may be grounds for discipline, removal from a position, or termination of employment.
Must pass background check provided for the agency by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Family Care Safety Registry which includes the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Department of Social Services, Department of Mental Health and Department of Health and Senior Services. Must not be on any “do not hire” list with the Department of Mental Health or the Missouri Division of Family Services.
