Addiction Recovery Services, Inc. (ARS) is a private organization that provides substance use treatment services. We have locations in Kansas City and Richmond, MO. ARS contracts with Tri-County Mental Health Services, Inc. to provide services to people in Clay, Platte and Ray counties in Missouri.
Purpose:
Addiction Recovery Services is seeking a full-time and/or part-time Peer Specialist to join our CSTAR treatment team. The Peer Specialist will provide support services to assist individuals served in their recovery from behavioral health and substance use disorders. Peer support promotes skills for coping with and managing symptoms while facilitating the utilization of natural supports and the preservation and enhancement of community living skills. Activities provided by the Peer Specialist emphasize the acquisition, development, and expansion of the rehabilitation skills needed to move forward in recovery.
Duties:
• Support, encourage, and model recovery and resilience from behavioral health disorders in ways that are specific to the needs of each individual.
• Starting and sustaining mutual support and education groups;
• Promoting dialogues on recovery and resilience;
• Teaching and modeling symptom management skills;
• Teaching and modeling problem-solving skills;
• Using the stages in recovery concept to promote self-determination; and
• Assisting peers in setting goals and following through on wellness and health activities.

Requirements: A Certified Peer Specialist must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent and applicable training and testing as required by the Department of Mental Health, and be supervised by a qualified mental health professional as defined in Code of State Regulations. Minimum 2 years in recovery preferred. Valid driver’s license. Background check and drug screen required. COVID vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required.
