House Manager / Certified Peer Specialist
The House Manager role holds an important position at Journey to New Life. The 90-day residential reentry program’s distinctive features are based on a restorative justice philosophy and supported by live-in House Managers.
Using restorative justice as a way-of-life philosophy, we assiduously avoid punishment as an automatic response to wrongdoing. We believe that an individual’s offenses are not against the state but against themselves, those with whom they are living and working, their children and families and the individuals in the community in which they live. Rather than being punitive, we seek to help them and those around them search for ways to recognize the harm that has been caused and to take responsibility for healing that harm.
Based on the above philosophy, the essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following, in addition to other duties as assigned. Rather than performing many of the tasks directly, some tasks may be accomplished through coordination with others:
DAILY OPERATIONS
• Monitor resident schedules regarding 7:00 pm and 10:00 pm curfews, attendance at dinner, chore calendar, etc.
• Oversee resident move-in and move-out
• Oversee food purchasing and acquisition, storage, cleanliness, and maintenance
• Complete monthly Harvesters reports and coordinate on-site inspections
• Monitor and distribute donations
• Ensure resident confidentiality is kept without exception
• Provide transportation to residents when appropriate
• Schedule and facilitate weekly house meetings
• Schedule and coordinate resident-related recreational activities and outings
• Alongside Case Manager, coordinate services with area providers
• Assist with the facilitation of resident satisfaction surveys and relevant data collection; if requested, track resident services in HMIS database
• Work with Volunteer Coordinator to identify and address unmet volunteer opportunities
• Assist with the coordination of facility safety planning and property maintenance

Requirements: Minimum Skills/Qualifications:
• Moderate computer literacy
• Ability to adhere to agency’s non-discrimination policy (includes race, religious beliefs, political views, cultural background, sexual orientation, gender
identity)
• High school diploma or GED
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, the following:
CPR certification
Valid Missouri driver’s license
Missouri Certified Peer Specialist credential
Proof of TB status
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Previous work with individuals in recovery from substance use disorders and those experiencing
mental illness
• If in recovery, ability to demonstrate at least two years of continuous sobriety
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
