House Manager / Certified Peer Specialist
The House Manager role holds an important position at Journey to New Life. The 90-day residential reentry program’s distinctive features are based on a restorative justice philosophy and supported by live-in staff. These factors contribute to the success of the program.
Using restorative justice as a way-of-life philosophy, we assiduously avoid punishment as an automatic response to wrongdoing. We believe that an individual’s offenses are not against the state but against themselves, those with whom they are living and working, their children and families and the individuals in the community in which they live. Rather than being punitive, we seek to help them and those around them search for ways to recognize the harm that has been caused and to take responsibility for healing that harm.
Based on the above philosophy, the essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following, in addition to other duties as assigned. Rather than performing many of the tasks directly, some tasks may be accomplished through coordination with others:

• Monitor resident schedules regarding 7:00 pm and 10:00 pm curfews, attendance at dinner, etc.
• Oversee completion of chores by residents
• Ensure each resident is signed up to cook one night per week for the house
• Oversee set up of resident rooms upon move-in
• Oversee resident move-out
• Ensure keys are distributed and collected upon move-in and move-out
• Manage petty cash and ensure all withdrawals are logged with receipts included
• Oversee food storage following First in, First Out principles
• Purchase or coordinate purchase of weekly shopping, including Harvesters runs
• Monitor freezer food storage, cleanliness, and maintenance
• Complete monthly Harvesters reports and coordinate on-site inspections
• Monitor and distribute donations
• Ensure resident confidentiality is kept without exception
• Provide a thorough orientation to all new residents
• Ensure resident agreement is reviewed and signed by resident
• Provide transportation to residents when appropriate
• Work with Case Managers to teach practical life skills
• Schedule and facilitate weekly house meetings
• Schedule and coordinate resident-related recreational activities and outings
• Assess residents for continued growth in the program
• Alongside Case Manager, coordinate services with area service providers
• Oversight of all pertinent health and safety concerns regarding the facility and its residents
• Assist with the facilitation of resident satisfaction surveys and relevant data collection
• Work with Volunteer Coordinator to identify and address unmet volunteer opportunities
• Assist with the coordination of facility safety planning and property maintenance

Requirements: Minimum Skills/Qualifications:
• Moderate computer literacy
• Ability to adhere to agency’s non-discrimination policy (includes race, religious beliefs, political views, cultural background, sexual orientation, gender identity)
• High school diploma or GED
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, the following:
• CPR certification
• Missouri Certified Peer Specialist credential
• Proof of TB status
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Previous work with individuals in recovery from substance use disorders and those experiencing
mental illness
• If in recovery, ability to demonstrate at least two years of continuous sobriety
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
