Join the dynamic Engaging Patients in Care Coordination (EPICC) team to assist in addressing the Kansas City region’s substance use epidemic which includes opioids, alcohol, and other stimulants. As a Recovery Coach, you will have the opportunity to work on a community project coordinated by CommCARE and in collaboration with the following Kansas City area treatment centers: Comprehensive Mental Health Services, Heartland Center for Behavioral Change, ReDiscover, Swope Health Services, Tri-County Mental Health Service, University Health (formerly Truman Medical Center). Recovery Coaches will outreach EPICC clients in the field, complete data entry requirements in a timely manner, and manage agency specific tasks and responsibilities. Recovery Coaches will also be responsible for assisting consumers in engaging in the program, participating in services, and retaining participants through consistent engagement in treatment. Requirements: Qualifications & Education:

Minimum:

Must have a reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and motor vehicle insurance.
Must provide evidence that incumbent is free of infectious and contagious disease, such as TB, prior to beginning employment and annually thereafter. Must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
Successful completion of the Criminal Record and Child Abuse & Neglect Background check 9 CSR 10 -5.190 prior to beginning employment.
NOTE: Applicant must be willing to occasionally work flexible hours by making calls in the evening in order to provide adequate outreach and engagement.
Required:

High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
Previous lived experience with substance use. Former consumer of substance use treatment services is a plus.
Must be in recovery for a minimum of two years.
Must possess Missouri Peer Specialist certification at time of hire or within 6 months of hire.
Must have basic typing and computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft applications and database entry.
Essential Job Functions

Follow monthly Recovery Coach Schedule provided by the EPICC Lead Coach.
NOTE: Recovery Coaches may be required to work a maximum of 2 weekends per month (rotating days off during the week) and be able to respond to calls 24/7 when scheduled.

Provide outreach to individuals who overdose on opioids, alcohol, and other stimulants and assist them/provide linkage to treatment services (via the hospital ER during or after business hours/in the community during business hours).
Follow-up with clients and treatment centers as needed to ensure the referral to services was completed and the client was connected/admitted to the agency.
Complete client follow-ups as needed to keep the client engaged or to re-engage as well as completing status updates at two weeks, thirty days, three months, and six months post-outreach.
Assist clients and staff in overcoming barriers through addressing conflicts and obstacles which threaten program completion, handling crisis situations as they arise
Document all the services provided in accordance with established agency policies.
Maintain positive, professional relationships with referral sources and represent the agency in a professional manner in the community.
It is projected that 10 – 20 hours per week will be spent engaging/outreaching clients in the community, including home visits.
Demonstrates interest in long term and short-term goals and objectives of the company.
Meet bi-weekly with EPICC Lead Coach to debrief from on-call shifts, discuss cases and engagement strategies, and ensure proper form completion.
Other duties as assigned by the EPICC Lead Coach and/or CEO.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must work well in a team environment and willing to be flexible.
Must have strong time management skills and be able to work independently.
Must be willing to be on call (via shift work) to provide outreach contact within 60 minutes and travel throughout the Greater Kansas City region (including four counties).
Must be willing to accept personal responsibility and account for own actions when appropriate.
Must be able to communicate well with others using clear verbal expression and thoughtful listening skills.
Must remain flexible and adapt to workplace changes as needed.
Must be comfortable working well with people who have different personalities and backgrounds.
Must have good people-skills and easily build rapport with clients and co-workers.
Must possess good time management skills to ensure all responsibilities are completed and maintained.
Must adhere to the philosophy that Medication Assisted Treatment is an appropriate form of treatment for people in recovery.
Knowledge of trauma-informed care preferred.
